The Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Lt Gen John Mutwa conferred rank insignias to promoted General Officers and confirmed their appointments.
Col Fiina Amupolo former Defence Attache to Germany was promoted to the rank of Brig Gen and appointed as Defence Inspector General and Col Freddy Maiba former Defence Attache to Ethiopia and African Union was appointed as Defence Advisor to the Commander-In-Chief of the Namibian Defence Force and the President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Hage Geingob.
In his introductory remarks, Lt Gen Mutwa said promotions in the NDF are based on vacancies and capability of an individual, that applies to all NDF members. " The advancement of a General Officer pyramid depends on experience, leadership, qualifications and availability of vacancy. To receive promotion of this nature, you obviously need to show excellent job performance in your current assignments. The Officer who continually strive for, and achieves, outstanding performance in all assignments can expect to have a satisfying and rewarding career", said Chief of the Namibian Defence Force.
The two Generals were selected by the Promotion Board No. 2 which was endorsed by H.E. Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia and Commander-In-Chief of the Namibian Defence Force. The two General Officers are career officers whose military careers started long way back as PLAN Combants during the Namibian Liberation Struggle. They are both battle tested and are Command and Staff qualified.
