The MOD Validated the National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security

 

Windhoek, 07 July 2018: The MOD hosted Validation meeting of the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security at Safari Conference Centre. The aim of the meeting was to review, enrich with inputs and validate the Draft of National Action Plan for the implementation of the UNSCR 1325 (2000) in Namibia for its submission to the Cabinet of the Republic of Namibia for consideration and adoption.

The development of the Namibia National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security followed a holistic consultative approach that included all relevant key stakeholders. The consultative process started in 2015. The theme of the NAP is " Namibia Moving United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 Forward".

The meeting was officially opened by Hon. Doreen Sioka, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare. The meeting was attended by Government officials, officers from Security Sectors, Civil Society Organisations, development partners and other Stakeholders . Hon. Penda Ya Ndakolo, Minister of Defence, officially closed the meeting.
